Gareth Eck, MD

Dr. Gareth Eck has been practicing at Washington Regional General Surgery Clinic, previously known as Fayetteville Surgical Associates, since 1984. Dr. Eck is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is a member of the Arkansas Medical Society. He holds the position of Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Arkansas Area health Education Center in Fayetteville and Clinical Surgical Site Director at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) NW College of Medicine.

He is serving on the Board of Directors at Washington Regional Medical Center. He previously served on the Board of directors at North Hills Surgery Center, Health Partners (a physician hospital organization), and Omega Physician’s organization. He served as Chief of General Surgery Service and Chief of Staff at Washington Regional Medical Center. He also served as President of the Washington County Medical Society and Vice President of Washington County American Cancer Society.

Born in Oklahoma, Dr. Eck holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and Doctor of Medicine degree from the UAMS in Little Rock. He completed both his general surgery internship and surgical residency at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas, Texas.

Dr. Eck has an interest in the surgical care of patients with cancer. He has specialized training in ultrasound biopsy of the breast and has a large practice in the care of patients with breast cancer. He offers sentinel node mapping and breast conservation surgery. Dr. Eck also offers surgical treatment for other cancers.
